Sophomore Business Honors Program
Eligibility:
An applicant to the Macklin
Business Institute should generally :
Recommended coursework for
first-year business students:
English – EN102/EN109 are the English foundation course alternatives. Students may test into these courses through assessment testing. If a student tests into EN101, that course should be taken first and will be treated as an Elective. (3-6 credits)
Math - foundation course requirement is MA110 or higher. Students who test into MA160 – Elementary Applied Calculus I should take that course. Those who do not take Calculus should take one of the math foundation classes and leave Calculus for 3rd or 4th year completion at a transfer institution.
(3-4 credits)
Science – recommend taking lab science in order to maintain more second – year flexibility. (4 credits)
Speech – SP108 or SP112 (3 credits)
BA101 – Introduction to Business (3 credits)
Computer Applications or Computer Science – for overview of business use of computers CA120 recommended. (3 credits)
For Electives & Distribution courses - see list in College catalog
Behavioral and Social Science Distribution, i.e. Psychology or Sociology, etc.(3 credits)
Humanities Elective (3 credits)
Arts Distribution (3 credits)
Note: In general, no 200 level courses should be
taken in the first year.
With
advisor guidance, an exception may be made regarding the selection of AC201 in
their second semester, freshman year in order to strengthen business skills
prior to entry to the Institute program.
